Cannabis infused food

Dec 14, 17 Cannabis infused food

Cannabis-infused food is a thing, that is the world we live in now, so at least that is something to be happy or at the very least smile about. Perhaps a signifier that not everything is going to pot (pun acknowledged but not intended) or maybe just a small consolation. Food and cannabis are two things that go hand-in-hand, one leads to the other (smoking cannabis makes you hungry) and also they are two of my favourite things to do. I love to eat. I love to get high. But what is it like to do the two things together? Are there actually any restaurants that serve cannabis-infused cuisine?

In Los Angeles of all places, surprise surprise, cannabis cuisines has been growing in popularity for a while now with a larger focus on more high-end, haute herb cuisine being served at pop-up events or specialist restaurants. Cannabis-centric dinner parties have become more common-place on the LA cannabis scene, with hosts gathering groups of friends and treating them to their best attempts at cannabis culinary treats.

On top of this, Vice even have their own television series which explores the full extent of marijuana in cooking called Bong Appetit which has been running for a while now, being at the end of its second series now. This shows that there is a market and interest in cannabis dining so it is likely that we will begin to see a lot more coverage of marijuana as a supplement to food, or at the very least, it’s not going away anytime soon.
