The ever-growing potential of medical cannabis

Jan 02, 18 The ever-growing potential of medical cannabis

As we all know, cannabis contains cannabidiol (CBD) which is non psychoactive, and many other things which contain the chemical would be considered medical. The UK has finally, officially allowed for CBD based products to be used in Britain. However, for those who now think they can get high of the NHS’ supply, please bear in mind, as previously stated, CBD does not produce the ‘high’ effects of marijuana, rather it is the healing factor, or the miraculous part of marijuana. CBD does represent the hidden gem of marijuana, however, until recently its medicinal properties have been marred by the incorrect ‘drug’ stigma which still surrounds marijuana in general.

It has been noted that many patients who would require medicinal marijuana would want just that and not CBD. However, the U.K.’s Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency has remained firm in it’s stance on marijuana in general. Marijuana is still a fully fledged class-B drug in the UK which puts it in the same classification as dangerous drugs such as amphetamines and mephedrone. Now, obviously, marijuana is not in the same league as those two in terms of the threat they pose to you should you take them, after all marijuana is yet to rack up a single recorded fatality.

This acknowledgement of CBD’s potential as a great healing medicine shows signs of progress in terms of the UK relaxing it’s classification of marijuana, however, there is still a way to go. Thankfully, with the UK being smaller than the US, legalization would be national unlike state by state in America.
