The Cold Room – Cold Climate Cannabis Strains

Oct 20, 16 The Cold Room – Cold Climate Cannabis Strains

Cold Climate Cannabis Strains are essential for a huge number of growers. WE CAN’T ALL BE BLESSED WITH SUNSHINE-LADEN TROPICAL CONDITIONS, BUT THAT DOESN’T MEAN WE CAN’T ALL PRODUCE EXCELLENT-QUALITY, HEALTHY CANNABIS PLANTS. THE SPECIMENS IN THIS TOP-FIVE RUN-DOWN ALL THRIVE IN LESS TEMPERATE CONDITIONS – AND THEY’RE ALL SERIOUSLY CHILLED IN MORE WAYS THAN ONE! WELCOME TO THE COLD ROOM… BE SURE TO WRAP UP WARM!

At number five on our list of cold climate cannabis strains is Critical + 2.0 Auto by Dinafem. This second generation ripper bears all the much-loved hallmarks of the original plant but is blessed with supercharged power, leading to greater production. The crystal-covered buds hang off it like pine tree needles covered in snow and the flowering time never exceeds 80 days. It’s a real sight to behold but those pendulous nugs mean you might need to give the branches a little extra support towards the end of the cycle. A strong, Skunky smell paves the way to a cool, cerebral high with a physical body buzz that keeps going for hours. Great for cosy nights in front of the TV!
Next up is GYO Seedbank’s own Black Jack Auto. This seed is the autoflowering version of the classic and much-loved Black Jack strain, and is sure to provide a plant that doesn’t disappoint. This beauty has enormous, dense buds and produces heaps of resin, and it has a sweet and musky aroma to boot. She’s very quick to flower and requires minimum effort, and she’ll knock you for six when smoked. Attentive gardeners can receive an indoor yield of 400 – 550g/m2 and an outdoor yield of 40 – 250g per plant. When smoked, a warm, lengthy chill ensues making this a perfect one to enjoy with a mug of cocoa. It is, without doubt, one of our favourite cold climate cannabis strains (but we would say that).
Third from the top spot we have Royal Queen Bluematic Auto. This is the feminised, autoflowering version of the famously fruity Blueberry, known worldwide for its sweet flavour and aroma. This plant remains pretty short and only grows to around 60 – 75cm in height. Like most automatic strains, it has very few side branches and instead dedicates all its energy to producing one large main bud. It’s mostly indica in its genetics and delivers a smooth, calm, relaxing stoned effect. It’s a real chill-out master and as soon as you sample it you’re sure to want a second helping!
In second place and well worthy of a special mention is Barney’s Farm 8 Ball Kush. This exquisite plant, which hails from the border of Afghanistan and Pakistan, shares its history with some of the classiest strains ever produced. High-quality breeding techniques have led to a hard-working plant that does well even in poor conditions – hence its place in The Cold Room. She’s hardy, stocky and well-built, and perfectly suited to a number of grow methods including Sea of Green and Screen of Green set-ups. She has tangy, spicy aromas that are typically Kush and her high yields have made her one of the most popular marijuana seeds on the market today. What’s more, her indica genetics and high levels of THC make her an awesome smoking experience and a force to be reckoned with.
And the top spot goes to Ace Seeds Nepal Jam! This one is a strong and compact highland sativa that flowers quickly and has excellent resistance to mould and cold weather. Her dense and resinous flowers bloom with a very good calyx-to-flower ratio and produce absolutely first-class hash. The bouquet is a pleasing mish-mash of caramel and honey with an unusual hint of jerk seasoning – this is a plant that really warms the cockles on a chilly night. Moreover, the combination of Nepal and Jamaican genes gives this hybrid ripper enough power to kick you into the air and keep you floating for hours on end – a real snowball effect that goes on and on! As far as cold climate cannabis strains are concerned, we can see why you think this one is best!
Head into The Cold Room and check out some of these great strains for yourself. They’re sure to make you feel warm and fuzzy inside!
